Happy Bastille Day!
Le quatorze juillet, or the 14th of July, celebrates the French national holiday of Bastille Day. It is a day to commemorate the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789. I know that a lot of people are not big French fans, but they did bring us Eva Green and Alizée Jacotey, plus you know what else? Bastille Day occurred only a few months after then King Louis XVI convened the Estates-General to hear their grievances. That’s right, a genuine Festivus-style “Airing of Grievances.” To mark the day, we present to you some ladies of France wearing the Trois Couleurs:
